Owatonna High School graduate Briana Hartmann, now a junior at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, has been invited to the NCAA Division III women's tennis championships in California in late May. Hartmann earned All-America honors as a sophomore by placing fifth in the ITA Oracle Cup last year.

Hartmann will play singles at the national event in Claremont, CA May 24-26. She was recently named to the All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference singles and doubles team. She holds a 24-8 singles record and went 8-0 in the MIAC. It was her third straight all-conference season.

Hartmann was a three-time state meet participant while playing for the Huskies. Her former high school teammate Tessa Rahrick is now a sophomore at St. Benedict and earned a spot on the MIAC All-Sportsmanship team. Rahrick, a 2016 OHS grad, mostly played No. 1 singles, going 8-14 and No. 1 doubles, finishing at 7-14. The Blazers had their best season in several years.

Incidentally, Hartmann and Rahrick squared off head-to-head March 30 with Hartmann winning in singles and doubles.
