The Owatonna girls lacrosse team opened the Section 1 playoffs with a 2-1 win at Mankato over the Big Nine champs. OHS goes to top-seed Farmington on Friday.

The Huskies split a pair of games with Mankato during the regular season. Each was fairly low scoring, but nothing like the defensive gem the teams played Tuesday. Owatonna (10-4 on www.minnesota-scores.net) travels to Farmington (12-2) Friday night for a 7PM game. The Tigers beat the Huskies in the season opener 13-4. Farmington is ranked fifth in the state on the lacrosse hub website. Lakeville South and Lakeville North meet in the other semifinal. The title game is Tuesday, June 6, at the high seed.

The Owatonna boys lost 11-9 to Northfield at Husky Stadium on Tuesday. The Raiders built an 8-2 lead by halftime and held on for the win. The teams split games during the regular season and shared the Big Nine title. Owatonna ends the season at 10-4. Brett Solie and Blake Pfieffer are the only seniors on the Huskies' Minnesota State High School League roster. Northfield faces top-seed Lakeville South in Friday's semifinals, while Farmington plays Lakeville North.
