Owatonna baseball wasn't going to let this one go to the seventh inning. The Huskies blanked Winona 10-0 in five innings to win the Big Nine Friday for the first time since 2014. OHS boys' and girls' lacrosse both celebrated conference championships Friday on a day like few others for Huskies' sports.

On the diamond at Charlie Fuller Field at Dartt's Park, Sol Havelka had a stellar outing. He tossed a complete game five-hitter, striking out six and surrendering three singles. No Winona player reached third base. Havelka showed he was dialed-in from the start by setting down the 'Hawks on seven pitches in the top of the first.

Brady Schuster delivered a two-run single in the last of the fifth to finish off the Winhawks. Schuster had four RBI. Noah Budach scored the winning run, his fourth of the night. He reached base with three hits and a walk and had at least two stolen bases. Those two got the scoring started in the first inning. Budach singled and advanced to second on an error. Schuster drove him in with a two-out single.

The Huskies plated three in the second with some small ball. Nolan Malo singled. Jake Miller was hit by a pitch. Dawson Leer put down a sac bunt. Ben Zappa drove in a run with a ground out to first. Miller and Budach also crossed the plate in the frame.

Owatonna opened up a big lead with four in the fourth, thanks to seven walks and a fielder's choice. They did not have a hit in the inning. Owatonna had seven hits on the game.

Friday night eased the bad memories of the night before when OHS lost a seven-run seventh-inning lead at Northfield and lost 11-10. where they could have wrapped up the league title. The Huskies go to Red Wing Monday for a 5 pm game on Kat Kountry 105FM. The sections begin Saturday, May 26.
