The Northfield Raiders girls basketball team literally ran away from the Faribault Falcons Tuesday night 56-21 in Northfield.  Raiders Head Coach Tony Mathison scouted Faribault against Kasson-Mantorville Monday night and knew the Falcons would be tired from their previous effort.  So message to his team evidently was let's run.

The Falcons did not score their first points of the game until there were 5:38 to go in the first half.  Faribault senior Abby Van Ryn scored a three point basket at that point.  A night after the Falcons did a fairly decent job of taking care of the basketball they had the turnover spout spew again with 18 turnovers resulting in 20 Northfield points.

I recall saying during the broadcast that Falcons Head Coach Bill Bardal would be doing cartwheels in the locker room because his team was only down by single digits at the half, 18-9.

Neither team had a player score in double figures in the game.  The Raiders were led by Nora Lemkuhl and LIzzie Berkvam with 9 points each.  Van Ryn led Faribault with 5 points and Evy Vettrus added 5.

Our Faribault State Farm Insurance agents Faribault players of the game were sophomore Bennett Wolff and junior Zoe Fronk because they appeared to have the most energy during the game.  The Falcons host Rochester John Marshall Friday and Northfield goes to Winona Friday night.
