Over the past several years, concussions in sports have been getting more attention, as research has been showing that they can have serious lasting effects. We're definitely past the days when athletes would continue playing after 'getting their bell rung.' It's also caused parents to seriously reconsider letting their children play football due to the risk.

In hockey, body checking is one of the leading causes of concussions in the sport, which is why USA Hockey already banned it for boys 12 and under. But now Mayo Clinic has come out with new recommendations to reduce the risk of concussions in youth sports by removing body checking from the bantam level - usually played by boys around 13-15 years of age.

As you can imagine, some in the hockey community disagree, with one coach in Mankato arguing that it all comes down to proper training and technique.

What do you think?
