More I-35 Headaches In The Cities

This closure this weekend is big. Really big. 15 miles big. I-35 is set to close between Richfield and Arden Hills from 10 pm on Friday till 5 am Monday.

Yes, you read that correctly. from the crosstown to I-694, the road will be closed all weekend.

Motorists will be detoured around the closure using Highway 62, Highway 100 and I-694 or I-35E to I-94 east.

MnDOT says crews will begin closing the on and off ramps for I-35W about one to two hours before closing the interstate. Officials add the closure is needed for two major projects, the 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown (utility installation on I-35W between Interstate 94 and Highway 62) and The I-35W Resurfacing Minneapolis to Roseville project (work on I-35W between I-94 and Highway 280).

MnDOT says a similar closure is tentatively scheduled for the following weekend from 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 through at 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6.
