It seems like lots of people are superstitious in one way or another. I don't necessarily believe that walking under a ladder is going to give you bad luck but I'll knock on wood or cross my fingers, that sort of thing. I don't think it will actually change anything but, for some reason, I still like doing it.

Most Popular Superstition Across the Country

This is according to an article by Potawatomi Casino and Hotel in Wisconsin. They used Google data to determine the most common superstitions in each state. It appears that overall the most common superstition across the country is throwing salt over the shoulder.

I believe the way it works is that if you spill salt you have to toss some over your shoulder in order to prevent bad luck.

Wisconsin's Most Popular Superstition

In Wisconsin, the most common superstition is that bad luck comes in threes. That's one that I kind of believe in.

Every time two bad things happen close to each other I'm always waiting for the third bad thing to come and typically it does. It could be just a minor inconvenience but I always chalk it up to the fact that bad things always come in threes.

Iowa's Most Popular Superstition

Iowa's most common superstition is lucky pennies. I don't believe that something brings you luck. However, I definitely believe that something that you believe is lucky to you, it will give you the confidence you need to have a good outcome.
