Owatonna has recently declared itself a Pollinator City. Those monarch butterflies are so important to pollination.

River Bend Nature Center in Faribault is offering a Raising Monarch Butterfly program on Saturday, July 20 from 10-11:30am. The program will help you to learn what monarchs eat, where to find monarchs and how to be successful raising an egg into a butterfly. Part of the session will involve going outdoors to look for monarch eggs, caterpillars and butterflies. All ages are welcome. It's $5 per person or $15 per family.

River Bend also reminds you of the Homeschool Science Day on Friday, July 26. A number of classes will be offered for different ages. At 9:30am a program on Animal Migration will offered to 3-7 year olds. Also at 9:30am a class on voyageurs and fur trading will be available for 8-14 year olds. At noon a class on canoeing and yard games will be offered for 6-14 year olds. Pre registration is recommended for these classes.
