Get Ready for the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Easter Egg Hunt

It looks like spring has decided to settle in, and with spring comes Easter. As a child I would eagerly await the annual Easter morning search for my basket filled with the eggs we had colored the day before and, of course, the delicious candy. I usually ate all the smaller candy like the jelly beans, small chocolate eggs and the malted eggs first and saved the solid chocolate Easter bunny for last. I would savor each bite, or should I say gnaw, because those rabbits seemed to made out of some kind of indestructible chocolate and it was almost impossible to bite through that solid bunny. It would take a while, but eventually I would gnaw away the entire rabbit.

One of the other Easter traditions I looked forward to was the annual Easter egg hunt. It was fun seeing how much candy I could pick up and then compare my haul with my friends. It's nice to see that tradition has continued throughout the years. I was able to share it with my children as they were growing up, and now I'll be able to share it with my grandchildren.

The annual Shattuck-St. Mary's Easter Hunt will be Saturday, March 26, at 10:30AM on the grounds of the school. Children ages 1-11 are welcome to join in age-appropriate Easter egg hunts. All family members are invited to come and "egg" the children on. Please bring a food item for the Faribault Food Shelf. Refreshments will be served and parking is available on campus. If there is inclement weather, the hunt will be moved indoors.
