The definition of team can take on a multitude of directions. In the setting of high school sports, teamwork is one of the educational aspects of participation. Cash Wise Foods of Owatonna and Waseca is sponsoring the "Team of the Week" this school year with a donation that will go to a charity in the home community of the recognized team from around the KRFO-listening area.

The Medford football team earns the honor for the first week of the promotion. While the Tigers did rally for a win over St. Clair/Mankato Loyola in their season opener August 30, the team-of-the-week honor rewards the team for the ongoing support of one of their own.

Senior Logan Pleschourt was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma two years ago according to Tigers coach Jarome Johannes, who says it recurred last year as well. Pleschourt still is battling the disease, but got the clearance from doctors to play this season. He appeared in Friday night's win over the Spartans much to the delight of his teammates.

Johannes said on Saturday's KRFO Coaches Show, "The guy is one of the bravest kids I've known. He's such a good kid...They (his teammates) were able to see him get on the field. They were cheering him on." On Twitter, Johannes added, "Logan is brave and a true warrior."

Cash Wise Foods of Owatonna and Waseca is a big supporter of local causes. Store Director Brian Elwer spoke of the ways they raise money, "We have the food stand that we run from the middle of May through the middle of September. It books up every year Wednesday through Saturday with different groups. We're always looking for ways to donate."

Cash Wise Foods will donate a $50 gift card to a charity in the community of the honored team each week. Cash Wise recently made a donation to the We All Play project in Owatonna through a Penny-Per-Point promotion.
