Bethlehem Academy Cardinals senior Mercedes Huerta scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning in a wild 10-9 win Friday over Medford in Faribault.

The Tigers had a lead before the dramatic comeback by the Cardinals.

Huerta put down a perfect bunt to gain the bases and was delivered home with a hit off the bat of Josie Rose.  That was the description by someone at the game anyway.

The girls were playing much of the game in the rain which meant pitchers were trying to throw a wet ball and of course everyone had to fight the conditions.

Elsewhere in the Gopher Conference Waterville-Elysian-Morristown remained undefeated with a 11-0 win over Glenville-Emmons/Alden-Conger in a out of conference contest.

The Buccaneers scored 4 runs in the bottom of the first innin in Waterville after giving up a run in the top of the inning.  They added a run in the third, two runs in the 5th and ended the game in the 6th  with 4 runs scored.

WEM cracked 9 hits, Glenville-Emmons/Alden-Conger belted 6 hits.

There were no errors despite the wet conditions. Senior Gloria Cortez went the distance for the Buccaneers with no walks and 6 strikeouts.

Lead-off hitter junior Jordan Green had a pair of hits and walk while scoring 2 runs.  Catcher junior Emma Woratschka cranked an RBI double, First baseman junior Hannah Bruns finished the game with 3 hits including a pair of doubles, 3 RBI and a walk in the cleanup spot.

Center fielder sophmore Alayna Atherton had a RBI double, two walks.  Second baseman, sophmore Grace Baker had 2 hits, 2 RBI.

Green had 4 stolen bases for the Buccaneers who had 6 of them in the game.

G-E/A-C had 2 steals.  WEM also made the most of their 6 walks in the game,

The Buccaneers will enter May with a 4-0 overall, 3-0 Gopher Conference record.
