Owatonna High School football wasn't going to let a halftime deficit, a stout Chaska defense or the frigid, windy conditions stop them from a return trip to US Bank Stadium for the state semifinals. OHS rallied from a 17-14 halftime hole to beat the Hawks 42-27 and earn a trip to downtown Minneapolis where they will play Elk River at 2 pm Friday, November 16.

Jason Williamson had 39 carriers for 310 yards and five touchdowns. He has 1,225 yards and 19 touchdowns in three postseason games! His career yardage total has reached 6,625. Williamson had scoring runs of six and 50 yards in the first quarter Saturday for a 14-0 Huskies' lead.

Chaska outscored Owatonna 17-0 in the section quarter, turning two OHS turnovers into ten points for a 17-14 lead heading into the warmth of the locker room.

Williamson scored on a 48-yard run early in the third quarter and Sol Havelka connected with Carson DeKam on a 13-yard touchdown pass for a 28-17 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Chaska nailed their second field goal to trim the score to 28-20. But OHS answered with back-to-back Williamson touchdowns for a 42-20 lead. Chaska scored with about two minutes left for the 42-28 final.

Huskies junior defensive back Isaac Oppegard made his school-record eighth interception in the contest.

Owatonna will play Elk River for the third straight year at state. The Elks beat the Huskies in the 2016 semifinals on the way to a Prep Bowl title. OHS returned the favor last year, beating Elk River in the title game.
