Art and Music at the Owatonna Arts Center
The Owatonna Arts Center, 435 Garden View Lane, will be having a concert and a new art exhibit in April.
On Sunday, April 3, Mary McCartney Watercolor exhibit will open. According to the press release, McCartney titles the exhibit "Our Natural Treasures: Art and Nature, A Closer View." She first photographed plants and put her view of their images on canvas.
There will be an artist reception to meet McCartney on Sunday, April 17, from 1-5PM.
Owatonna Arts Center will be filled with music also on Sunday, April 3, from 2-4PM. The Mankato-based group Captain Gravitone and the String Theory Orchestra will perform some jazz and tango. The members are Eli Hoehn on banjo and vocals; vocalist Kelly Kroeker; Kelly Coyle on bass; and Damen Price playing the drums.
From the Minneapolis-based group Rio Nido, Tom Lieberman will also be singing and playing the guitar. Liberman was part of Prairie Home Companion as El Muchacho Allegre.
Bill "Wailin' Wille" Smith will play jazz and ballads on the harmonica along with the blues and Jim Plattes.
Smith has performed with Captain Gravitone and Lieberman. He has been in the Mankato area since the '90s and is in a few different bands including the Big Trees and The Blind Moose
Plattes plays jazz and classic violin and has performed throughout the Twin Cities and teaches music.
