In times of emergency which includes inclement weather, amateur radio operators often answer the call of duty. Your chance to get your amateur radio license is coming in February. In conjunction with Steele County Emergency Management, the Owatonna Steele County Amateur Radio Club or OSCAR is offering free to the public a Ham Radio license class.

Classes will run February 12 through March 7. The class will meet Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:30pm at the Owatonna Fire Station. The class instruction is free and the study guide is $30.

Students will be able to take the license exam on March 15. The exam fee is $15.

The class is open to all ages and those 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. You may register or find out more by calling Tom at 444-9133.

Be very cautious today if you have to step outside. Frost bite can occur ever so swiftly. Read more here.
