5 Fast Facts for Saturday’s From The Heart Run
Hundreds will take to the trails and streets around Owatonna Saturday, May 5 for the 10th anniversary From the Heart Run. The community effort will raise thousands of dollars to support five local families in their journey with cancer.
The event begins with a spaghetti supper, silent and live auction, and bake sale Friday at the Owatonna Middle School from 4:30 - 8 pm. Advance tickets are available at Kottke Jewelers, Washington Elementary and Profinium Financial. They will also be purchased at the door. The cost is $7 in advance and $8 at the door.
Meet the benefiting families on Friday. Tanya Powell has worked as a Steele County social worker for about 15 years. Jim Gleason was most recently the Steele County Free Fair Secretary after spending many years as a sales person for KRFO radio. Brian Wencl is a former Owatonna hockey player whose son is currently a senior at OHS. Heidi Smith coached baseball, softball and basketball for many years in Owatonna. Joe Wagoner is the fifth individual receiving support.
A live auction Friday night at the middle school will feature several items including tickets to Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw/Faith Hill concerts and Vikings' tickets.
