Triton Football Hosts Tackle Cancer and Hall of Fame Night Friday
In addition to playing an important district and section football game Friday night, Triton's football players will walk with cancer survivors after the game and might learn a little about the sports history of the time before Triton High School existed. The second annual Tackle Cancer night and Triton Athletic Hall of Fame recognition night will be part of the No. 6AA Cobras' game against St. Charles. Kickoff is 7PM in Dodge Center. Each team is 2-1.
Football coach Don Henderson says the cancer fundraising event went over well last year, "It was a great success for us last year. We've got a very dedicated community." A meal will be served after the game and a cancer walk will take place with players walking a lap with cancer survivors. A silent auction will also be held.
The athletic hall of fame offers a cross section of Triton sports and the time before the co-op began, "We honor people from the previous three schools, West Concord, Claremont and Dodge Center and then also honor some teams and Triton athletes," said Henderson. "It's been a real positive for our community and a real fun way for the people from the different communities to get a little better sense of history." The inductees will be honored at halftime Friday. A ceremony is Saturday night at Triton High School at 7PM.
