The Minnesota Associated Press rankings of high school football teams in the six classes of competition have been released.

Saturday was a tough day for Owatonna, Blooming Prairie and Triton baseball teams who were all eliminated from section play.

Triton beat Lourdes 3-1 Monday to win the subsection. Blooming Prairie beat Hayfield 5-3 to stay alive in their tournament.

The Triton School District has only had one football coach since it was formed about 25 years ago. Don Henderson has held the position ever since Dodge Center, Claremont and West Concord came together as one district. The hall of fame coach announced he would step down after last season. Longtime assistant Mike Ellingson will be the second coach to head the Cobras' program, pending school board approval on April 16.

The Triton basketball programs will host 'Shooting for a Cure' Friday, January 26 as a fundraising event for cancer. Seven basketball teams play at home Friday, including both the boys' and girls' varsity teams.
