Steele County Blades Goalie Commits to Wisconsin-River Falls

The Steele County Blades junior hockey team announces that goaltender Tim Grounds has committed to play college hockey at Wisconsin-River Falls.

Grounds (Jamestown, N.D.) played one season in Owatonna for the Blades. He had a 16-7 record with four shutouts. His goals against average was 2.67 and his saves percentage was .911.

In a press release from the U.S. Premier Hockey League, Steele County coach Nick Adamek states, "We are very happy for Tim. He came here with the goal of becoming a college athlete and withstood immense pressure to get to where he is today." Adamek also says, "Tim has a competitive drive like no other goalie I have ever coached."

In the news release, Grounds says you have to watch for your opportunities in life, "Your dreams may become a reality, like mine. I now have an opportunity to play college hockey." Wisconsin-River Falls is a member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and are coached by Steve Freeman.

Owatonna High School graduate Soren Colstrup (Ellendale) announced in May that he would attend Framingham State University in Massachusetts and play hockey. Colstrup is the all-time leading scorer for the Blades. The team took a tour of Framingham while playing in a showcase tournament in Boston this past season. The Blades say more announcements will be forthcoming on college commitments.

Former Blades goalie Adam Carlson (Edina) is on the roster for the Washington Capitals development camp beginning on Tuesday. Carlson signed with the organization in March 2016 and played in the minor leagues.
