The 24th Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will take place on Saturday, May 14. They are asking for your help.

Last year's drive collected more than 71 million pounds of nonperishable food nationwide, which went to local food pantries to help 1 in 6 Americans who are struggling.

This year the message is "the story behind the story," meaning we are helping people we know. The PSA talks to people in a variety of different situations, such as Mark who has overcome homelessness after 14 months and is picking up food to cook in his newly acquired apartment.

Rebecca talks about being a single mother and recently out of an abusive relationship and using the food pantry for the first time.

Stamp Out Hunger will help local families and neighbors.

First: Collect and bag nonperishable food items that have not expired. Examples would include canned fish and meats, soup, fruits and vegetables, pasta, cereal, peanut butter and rice.

Second: On Saturday, May 14, place the bag by your mailbox and your letter carrier will deliver to the local food shelf.

Thank you for your generosity.
