Rochester Man Facing Felony Assault Charge for Road Rage Incident
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester man accused of pointing a gun at another motorist during a road rage incident in Rochester made his first appearance in Olmsted County court this week.
23-year-old Dillion Nolan was formally charged with second-degree assault. A judge set his conditional bail at $5,000.
The criminal complaint in the case says the road rage incident began when Nolan “brake checked” a motorist following him south on Broadway Ave. Nolan and the driver then exchanged offensive hand gestures before the other driver saw Nolan dig around in his vehicle, pull out a pistol and point it at the other driver.
Nolan’s vehicle then turned off Broadway to westbound Hwy. 14 and the other driver called police. The other driver gave officers a description of Nolan, his vehicle and license plate. Officers found the vehicle unoccupied at a parking lot near the Apache Mall.
Police set up surveillance on the vehicle and approached Nolan when he returned to it. Nolan admitted to being involved in a road range incident and brandishing a firearm. Rochester Police Captain Casey Moilanen said Nolan showed remorse for pointing the gun at the other motorist.
The complaint says officers searched Nolan’s vehicle upon his arrest and found the following items:
Court records indicate Nolan posted a $5,000 non-cash bond. His next court appearance is set for February 15.
