Rochester Police responded to the gunfire at the north Walmart store around 11:00 on the night of March 23.

It began with a traffic stop and ended with officers deploying a taser.

The criminal complaint, filed in Olmsted County Court on Tuesday, alleges the swindle scheme occurred after the alleged carjacking but before he was charged in that case.

Law enforcement uses the automated readers to track stolen vehicles, individuals with active warrants and vehicles involved in missing person cases.

The court document says a Rochester police officer caught the suspect at the scene shortly before 11:30 Saturday night.

The criminal complaint, filed in Olmsted County Court on Monday, says the motorist assaulted an officer who attempted to arrest him for impaired driving.

Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says officers responded to the crash shortly after 5 a.m.

Rochester Police Department detectives who were on patrol witnessed the alleged drug deal on Monday.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Captain Tim Parkin said the crash followed a fleeing incident involving the Minnesota State Patrol.

The criminal complaint also says the defendant in the case was an adult man when he and the victim were engaged in a sexual relationship.
