Rochester Area Veterinarian Badly Injured by Charging Steer
Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff's Department says a local veterinarian was seriously injured in what was described as a life-threatening incident yesterday at a farm in Rock Dell Township.
Sheriff’s Captain Scott Behrns says deputies and emergency medical responders rushed to the farm in the 7400 block of Highway 30 after receiving a 911 call around 5:30 p.m. The first responders found 30-year-old Dr. Derek Adams from the Chosen Valley Veterinary Clinic suffering from a head injury.
Behrns says Dr. Adams was inside a building when he was attacked by a charging steer. He had no pulse for a period of time, but was revived at the scene and had regained consciousness by the time was transported to St. Marys Hospital. The Chosen Valley Veterinary Clinic issued a statement indicating Dr. Adams has been discharged from the hospital and is resting at his home.
