The Rice County Highway Department has announced Spring Load Restrictions on paved Rice County State Aid Highways and County roadways will be terminated effective Friday, May 10, 2019.  Summer is a little over a month away and spring has barely sprung.

Winter doesn't seem to want to lose it's icy grip.  Aggregate surfaced (gravel) Rice County State Aid Highways and County roadways remain restricted to 5 ton/axle weight limits until further notice.

The Rice County Highway Department news release goes on to say, "Rice County State Aid Highways and County roadways remain subject to permanent maximum allowed axle weight restrictions.  A permanent Maximum Allowed Axle Weight Restriction map is posted on the Highway Department page of the Rice County website, located at www.co.rice.mn.us.

Concerning transportation you might recall not too long ago the Rice County Sheriff imposed a No Wake restriction on all Rice County waterways.  At the time Sheriff Troy Dunn said he wanted to lift the restriction before the fishing opener and indeed that has happened.

The Sheriff says, "We thank everyone for their patience. Please remember to wear your Personal Flotation Devices (PFD's) when boating and be cautious to debris in and around our lakes, rivers and waterways."
