It's Rice County Fair week.  Fair Secretary John Dvorak gave KDHL AM Minnesota listeners a preview of the event which opens tomorrow.  Dvorak emphasized the Passports to Fun will be available through Tuesday evening and a decision could be made to extend the sales to Wednesday depending on the number sold.

Passports to Fun are being sold at Hy-Vee, the Rice County Fair Office and Fareway Foods in Faribault for $45.00.  These tickets for the Gold Star Amusements rides are good for unlimited rides the entire run of the fair.  There are over 30 rides available.  There are other ride specials happening during the Rice County Fair.  Wednesday the rides open 1:00 p.m.  An armband special allows unlimited rides all day for $25.00 per person.

Thursday Noon to closing armband special for the same price.  Friday is kids day with the cost $20 before 4:00 p.m. and $25 per person after 4:00 p.m.  Saturday the special is unlimited rides from Noon to closing for $25.  Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. $25.00.

There are drawings each day for over $1,000 in cash to be given away each day just for parking at the fair.  Drawing also for Grand Prizes including two 1 night stays at the GrandStay Hotel in Faribault, King Suite.  A $500 travel certificate courtesy of Star Trophy and Apparel of Faribault, Badger Excavating of Lonsdale, Simon Brothers Cement Co. Lonsdale and Bursch Travel of Northfield.  1 dozen Specialty Cupcakes every month for a year from Cakewalk of Northfield.  You must be present to win.

Grandstand shows include Enduro Auto Races Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m.  Barnes Rodeo 7:00 p.m. Thursday night.  Friday 6:30 p.m. Midwest All Star Wrestling.  Saturday 7:00 p.m. NTPA Truck and Tractor Pull. Sunday 4:00 p.m. Kids Power Wheels followed by a Demolition Derby 4:30 p.m.

A variety of entertainment can be experienced on the FREE act stages including opening night when three young women will be chosen the first Ambassadors of the Rice County Fair.  The coronation program begins 7:00 p.m. followed by the Faribault Area Community Band performing at 8:00 p.m.
