Facebook Group Plans to Storm Area 51
Rumors and stories abound about Area 51, especially since the military base now "officially" exists, it was formally acknowledged in 2013. Well, if you watched the 1996 movie "Independence Day" you will know that it was featured as the place where the aliens were kept, along with one of their crashed airships.
There is now a Facebook event, called "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us" that has 1 million people planning to attend, and another 910K people interested in the event. The details state:
We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Lets see them aliens.
Naruto Run refers to the unique running style Naruto Uzumaki in the Japanese anime series Naruto, where he is often depicted sprinting with his hands behind him to decrease wind resistance. Let that sink in, running with your hands behind your back, like an anime character.
This is very much a tongue in cheek event, and the comments in the event on Facebook are pretty humorous. They even have Agents Mulder and Scully from "The X-files" in different memes. Honestly, those comments in the Facebook event are the BEST, I may have to show interest in the event, just to see more comments as they are published.
One thing to keep in mind, in case you were planning to head out to Nevada in September, or any other time, Area 51 is an ACTIVE military base, not a tourist attraction. According to the Washington Post, an Air Force spokeswoman would not state what exact plans may be in place for those who do decide to travel, she did issue a warning stating that (Area 51) is an open training range and that they would discourage anyone from coming into the area.
