Owatonna, Triton, Blooming Prairie, NRHEG Earn Home Playoff Games
The section playoffs are set for high school football. Owatonna, Triton, Blooming Prairie and NRHEG all landed home postseason openers. Medford goes on the road. First round games are Tuesday, October 24.
The Huskies (7-1) are the No. 2 seed, have a first-round bye in Section 1-5A and will play their first game Saturday, October 28 at 7PM. They will host the winner of Austin and Rochester John Marshall. OHS is the defending section champ. Northfield is the top seed.
Triton (7-1) is No. 2 in Section 1AA and will host Winona Cotter Tuesday, October 24 at 7PM in Dodge Center. Defending state champion Caledonia (8-0) is the top seed. The section title game will be Friday, November 3 at 8PM at Rochester Regional Sports Stadium.
Blooming Prairie (6-2) landed the No. 3 spot in Section 1A and will open the playoffs hosting Southland who they beat in week one of the season. Kat Kountry 105FM will have coverage on Tuesday. Goodhue is the top seed, followed by Rushford-Peterson, who beat BP Wednesday night 39-35. The title game is in Rochester Saturday, November 4 at 5PM.
NRHEG (4-4, No. 4 seed) won its last two games to get a home playoff game where they will entertain LeSueur-Henderson Tuesday at 7PM in Section 2AA. The Panthers beat the Giants 24-10 last Friday. Medford (2-6) also won its last two games and takes the No. 6 seed to Blue Earth Area Tuesday in 2AA. Defending section champ Maple River is the top seed.
Winona (8-0), last year's state runner-up, is the top seed in Section 1-4A. Albert Lea, at 0-8, will host a playoff game against Red Wing (0-8) Tuesday. Mankato West (7-1) ended up with the third seed in Section 2-5A behind Chaska and Chanhassen.
