Owatonna Man Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle
An Owatonna man died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday at the intersection of East Main Street and North Elm Avenue. A news release from the Owatonna Police Department (OPD) identifies the victim as 79-year-old Lanny Huemann.
The report states, "The victim was transported by Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service to the Owatonna Hospital and later by air ambulance to Rochester where (he) died from his injuries." The incident occurred at around 4:30 pm on December 8.
Owatonna Police officers and EMS staff from Mayo Clinic Ambulance provided on-the-scene care to Huemann.
The news release says, "Initial investigation indicates the vehicle was making a right turn from southbound Elm Avenue onto westbound Main Street and struck the pedestrian in the roadway." Police identified the driver as 74-year-old Jerome Schnorenberg of Owatonna.
The statement closes with "Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in this crash. This crash remains under investigation by the Owatonna Police Department."
This is the second vehicle-pedestrian crash in a week in Owatonna. On Monday, November 30 an 88-year-old woman was struck by a pick-up driven by a 40-year-old man. Each is from Owatonna. The woman was treated and released. Information on this incident was provided by the Owatonna Police Department.
The November 30 crash happened at the intersection of Cedar Avenue South and 18th Street.
