The Owatonna Police Department and the Steele-Rice County 911 Center are asking businesses in Owatonna and Faribault to update their emergency contact information.

The Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism included that request in their weekly email newsletter this week. The police department is asking applicable businesses to fill out a key holder form and return it to their office as soon as possible. Information will be kept confidential, according to the form.

Details such as business name and address, owner names and numbers are requested, along with multiple contact people. Information would only be used by police and sheriff personnel in emergency situations.

The form can be faxed to (507) 455-2871 or emailed to ricesteele911@rsc-psap.org. Call (507) 455-2810 for more information.

The Owatonna Police Department also announces details for the Night to Unite event to be held on Tuesday, August 1. The purpose of the event is to increase crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood connections and increase knowledge of local anti-crime activities. The planning packet offers many ideas for organizing a block party.
