Nine Owatonna High School students-athletes formalized their intentions to play college sports during a National Signing Day event Wednesday in the high school commons. The signings include a pair of Division I commitments and a Division II offer.

 

Division I

Sydney Kretlow - track - University of Minnesota. Kretlow excels in gymnastics and soccer as well, but told KRFO that a Division I opportunity was too good to pass up. She is undecided on a major.

Cade King - wrestling - South Dakota State University. King said he's excited about the direction that SDSU is heading and happy with the team works with its upper weight wrestlers. He is interested in Natural Resource Management.

Division II

Emily Rahrick - tennis - University of Minnesota-Duluth. Rahrick says a new challenge in college will be playing singles and doubles after specializing in singles in high school. Rahrick set the OHS record for career wins in girls tennis. She plans to major in Biology and is interested in Pre-Med.

Division III

Joseph Stransky - football - University of Wisconsin, River Falls. Stransky said River Falls was the first school to express interest in him and has a good Ag Business department.

Kiley Friedrichs - soccer - Bethel University. Friedrichs will study nursing. She says she choose soccer over hockey because of her love of the game.

Jordan Whalen - soccer - Gustavus Adolphus College. Whalen is undecided on her major but is thrilled to attend the school her mother attended.

Nick Anderson - lacrosse - University of the Cumberlands. Anderson got noticed while playing in an elite league. The Kentucky school has the Biology-Pre-Med Anderson is interested in.

Emma Zimmerman - track - Gustavus Adolphus College. Zimmerman will study Athletic Training in St. Peter.

Maylynn Prokopec - hockey - Bethel. Prokopec loves hockey and is happy for the chance to continue her hockey career. She is undecided on a major.
