Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will bring the Minnesota Governor's Pheasant Hunting Opener to the Austin area October 11-12. Landowners with grassland or wetlands within 20 miles of Austin are being asked to take part in the event by allowing hunting on that land. The land will be hunted on only October 12 and invited hunters will be led by local hunter hosts.

The Hunting Opener this fall will be used to showcase the many hunting and tourism opportunities in the Austin area.

This who would be willing to allow hunting on their land on that date may contact Justin Hanson at justin.hanson@mowerswcd.org. You may also call 507-434-2603 or stop by the Mower County Soil and Water Conservation District office on 21st Avenue NW in Austin.

The Governor's Pheasant Hunting Opener was first conducted in 2011 with then Governor Mark Dayton.
