Lakeville North won the Section 1AAAA baseball title 9-0 over Farmington Tuesday at Memorial Field in Dundas. Ho hum. It is at least the ninth trip to the state tournament for North teams this school year. And both of their lacrosse teams play for section titles Tuesday.

The second-seeded Panthers have a dominant pitching one-two punch. Future Division I player for Oklahoma State Nathaniel Peterson led North past Owatonna last Saturday. On Tuesday, Collin Denk, who will play at Division II Minnesota State University-Mankato tossed a complete game two-hitter, striking out seven Tigers.

The game was scoreless through two innings. Lakeville North scored in every inning after that. Top hits included a two-run, third-inning double by Zach Breeden and a three-run home run from Peterson in the fifth. Nick Spitt sandwiched a run-scoring triple into the fourth inning.

Farmington would have had to beat North twice to go to state.

North won the state volleyball tournament this school year and was second at state gymnastics. The Panthers placed third in both girls' and boys' basketball. North also went to state in football, boys' and girls' soccer, boys' hockey and their softball team plays there this week.
