Kenyon-Wanamingo grabbed a quick 1-0 lead after the first inning at the Mini Met in Jordan, but little else went well for the Knights who lost 11-1 to the Hubmen in six innings in the first round of the Section 2AA playoffs. The first round is single-elimination and the Knights end their season at 4-15.

Tyler Craig opened the game with a single. Jack Buelke sacrificed him to second. Micah Johnson singled sharply to left field with Craig holding up at third base. Cleanup batter Tate Erlandson hit a come-backer that was ruled an error but it allowed Craig to score.

KW coach Kirby VanDeWalker said before the game that the Milo Peterson Ford of Kenyon keys to the game included getting the first or second batter on base in order to create opportunities to score. Seth Brossard earned a one-out walk in the second inning and stole second but was stranded there. In the third, Garrett Grove hit a one-out double and moved to third on a ground out. He was picked off by the catcher to end the inning. The Knights only had one base runner over the final three innings. Another key was the make the routine plays defensively. KW was charged with five errors.

Jordan junior pitcher Michael Lambrecht heated up as the hot night progressed. He set down the final seven batters he faced and allowed just three hits. He struck out seven and walked two.

The Hubmen tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning. Jonathon Draheim singled and Christian Medick followed with a long double. He later moved to third and was the second out of the inning on an attempted suicide squeeze that didn't work.

Jordan took firm control of the game in the third after there were two out. An error and a hit batter set the stage for a double from Lambrecht and singles by Draheim and Medick that added up to four runs and a 5-1 lead.

The Hubmen scored two in the fourth, one in the fifth and ended the game with a three-run sixth. Draheim had three hits. Adam Kreuser had two of the Hubmen's seven doubles. Jordan (10-8) will host WEM in the section quarterfinals Tuesday, May 29.

KW's lone senior Jack Buelke was named the Held Bus Service Kenyon-Wanamingo player of the game after throwing five innings before the pitch count reached its limit.
