The heat index will approach or exceed 95 to 100 degrees across
much of east central through south central Minnesota today.
Strong southwesterly winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph
are expected over much of southwestern and south central Minnesota
today.

Take extra precautions...if you work or spend time outside. When
possible...reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water. Do not leave anyone,
particularly children and pets, left alone in closed vehicles for
any amount of time.

A few severe storms are possible along a cold front later today
for east central, south central and southeast Minnesota, as well
as west central Wisconsin. The main hazard will be large hail and
damaging winds. Late tonight, and into early Sunday morning, a
complex of thunderstorms will develop across South Dakota and move
eastward into southwest, west central Minnesota. Damaging winds
are possible with these storms.

Ongoing thunderstorms, some capable of producing damaging winds,
will move across southern Minnesota Sunday morning. Heavy
rainfall and flash flooding are also possible with these storms.
