Find These New Foods at the Steele County Free Fair

It's hard to believe people can still come up with new foods for the Steele County Fair each year, but seven foods will reportedly make their debut in 2016.

The Steele County Free Fair Barker publication says that seven foods will be new at the fair this year. Schnitzel is a thin tenderized meat that is breaded and deep fried. Cream puffs and dipped bananas will be available. Fried chicken is on the list of new foods for 2016. Could it be that fried chicken has never been available at the fair?

You can try a dynamite dog, West Indies dishes and gluten-free Kim Chi fries in Owatonna for the first time.

If you like your food deep fried, Steele County offers alligator, cauliflower, chocolate chip cookies, corn nuggets, green beans and green tomatoes, grilled cheese sandwich, Ho-Ho's, olives, peanut butter cups, pickles, pickles with cream cheese, pizza rolls, Snickers, strawberries, Twinkies and Oreos all deep fried.

Foods on a stick include corn dogs, hot dish, Chinese buffet, Chinese donuts, egg rolls, veggie kabobs and won-tons.

You can also make your way around most of the animal kingdom with alligator sausage, buffalo burgers, chicken salad, clam strips, crab cakes, elephant ears, elk burgers, fish and chips, frog legs, piggy nachos, shrimp and onions, turkey legs and walleye.
