Federated Insurance of Owatonna has earned Top Performer awards from Ward's Group, a global professional services group. Federated was named to the Ward's Top 50 list for life-health and property-casualty, one of just a few firms to land on both of those lists.

The news was announced as part of the Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism's (OACCT) weekly Tuesday Talk e-newsletter.

Federated Insurance chairman and CEO Jeff Fetters said, "We are proud to be part of the coveted Ward's 50 list of top performers. This recognition demonstrates our commitment to financial strength and helping our clients succeed. Perhaps now more than ever, the 38,000+ businesses across America who trust us to help protect their livelihoods need and deserve an insurance provider that is financially sound."

Federated Insurance was founded in 1904 and is a national insurance and risk management company. Ward Group is a global professional services firm that honors companies based on their performance over a five-year period for providing financial safety and consistency.

Federated also made the news recently with the success of a virtual gala to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters that brought in $3 million.

Among the other news releases was an announcement from Little Theatre of Owatonna on the awarding of the Sarah Foreman Memorial Post-Secondary LTO Scholarship. Kyra Rahn of Medford, an Owatonna High School graduate, received the $1,000 scholarship. Rahn and Veta Alexander Scholarship recipient Riauna Bishop of Blooming Prairie will be formally recognized by LTO soon.

LTO recently announced they will reopen this fall with a full slate of performances scheduled for the 2020-2021 season. This will include two shows canceled earlier this year due to the pandemic. The theater will feature new health safety measures to follow social distancing guidelines.

Tuesday Talk highlighted new chamber members businesses visited by the OACCT Ambassadors.

  • Finholdt Repair, an automotive shop at 435 26th St NE
  • Edina Realty at 120 Landmark Drive
  • Valley Staffing at 211 1st Ave NW in Faribault

Businesses that haven't picked up free face masks from the chamber office are invited to do so between 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday. The masks were provided by the state to help businesses supply customers with face coverings to follow the safety measures set in place by the governor and health officials.
