Farmington stunned top-seed Owatonna 2-1 in overtime Thursday night in the Section 1AA girls soccer semifinals at the Lincoln Complex in Owatonna. The Tigers scored as a result of their only corner kick of the night, which led to a scrum in front of the Huskies' goal. Emily Rubins scored both goals for Farmington, which has doubled its win total from the regular season with its two playoff victories.

After a scoreless first half, the Tigers got on the board first with just over 15 minutes remaining. The Huskies tied the score with less than five minutes left on a long free kick that led to Stephanie Liebl's goal. Sophie Amundson assisted. Farmington clamped down on defense and minimized Owatonna's chances throughout the night.

The Huskies had a couple of great chances in the first half. The Tiger's goalkeeper punched away a point blank chance and another good look sailed wide left. The Tigers hit the crossbar with a shot in the first half.

Seniors on the Owatonna (14-4) roster include Julia Harstad, Amundson, Kenna West, Hannah Gebur, Brian Wachowiak, Ali Golberg, Sarah Spears, Margo Achterkirch, Leibl and Jamie Davison.

Farmington (4-12-2) plays at Lakeville North in Tuesday's section final. The Panthers have won the last six 1AA titles. On the boys side in 1AA, Farmington upset top seed Rochester Mayo and will play at Lakeville North Tuesday.
