Faribault Girls Hockey has Three Hat Tricks in Win
The Faribault Falcons girls hockey team had three hat tricks in their 11-1 win over the Albert Lea Tigers in Albert Lea Tuesday night. Seniors Olivia Williamson and Abby Goodwin were joined by eighth grader Isabelle Stephes in accomplishing the feat.
Williamson is currently second in the state in goals scored and total points and ranks 5th in assists. Goodwin is 15th in goals scored. Falcons goalie Mikayla Bohner is third in wins with 13, second in goals against average 1.26 and third in save percentage .947.
Faribault is 15-2 and tangles with the team that has stood in the way of a trip to state the past few seasons Rochester Lourdes on Friday. The contest will be played at Graham Arena with drop of the puck scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
In addition to a hat trick Tuesday Williamson had 6 points with three assists to go along with the three goals.
The Falcons had a 6-0 lead after the first period. :42 into the game Stephes scored assisted by Williamson. 2:38 Williamson scored unassisted. 9:12 Williamson was asisted by Stephes and senior Haley Lang. 11:34 Goodwin connected assisted by eighth grader Grace McCoshen. 14:51 Goodwin scored a short handed goal assisted by McCoshen and junior Rylie Starkson. 15:53 Lang got a power play goal assisted by Williamson.
In the second period Albert Lea scored their only goal :36 into the period. 7:51 Stephen scored assisted by Williamson. 47 seconds later Goodwin scored assisted by Starkson and junior Alli Velander. 19 seconds later Lang scored a unassisted goal. At 12:10 Williamson buried the puck off a Lang assist.
With 39 seconds to go in the game Stephes completed her hat trick assisted by Starkson.
Faribault outshot Albert Lea 45-37. Senior goalie Mikayla Bohner stopped 36 shots.
