Minnesota Made Snowmobile ‘Homecoming’ Adds New Model
The 16th Annual Cuyuna Lakes Ice Fishing Contest & Scorpion Homecoming for this year has added a new model for its snowmobile show this year. The annual event takes place up in the Crosby area and brings vintage sleds back to the place where they were manufactured. The homecoming event has added "the iconic tear drop designs from model years 1967-1971" in addition to the Scorpion "Range Whip (model years 1976-1978)."
The event is one that I have opined to attend since we came into our own Scorpion. The event this year runs on February 1st up in Crosby, on Serpent Lake. The snowmobile portion of the event has radar runs and a snowmobile show and trophies that are handed out for best in the show and other awards.
Selfishly I've wanted to go to check out machines for sale, and parts.
My wife and I three years ago took ownership of our 1975 Scorpion Whip 440 from her dad who had it sitting up in an old pig barn in Pierz. It had only 200 original miles on the sled, and it needed some work after someone had hit a tractor parked in a field with it. After some work, it goes like a top, but I've learned one can't have too many toys.
