It was a chilly rain soaked night in Red Wing on Friday. it was still raining a bit during warm ups and there were puddles on the sidelines. But it's high school football in Minnesota. And as long as there was not any lightning, the game goes on. And the Falcons were determined to pick up their first win of the season and possible the way the section works out, a victory could help get them a bye in the first round of the playoffs.

The Falcons kicked it off, Red Wing had a hard time fielding kicks several times in the night, but they put some offense together but ended giving up to Faribault. The Falcons not able to move much on their first set of downs and punting was an issue during the night for them and would give Red Wing good field position. Finally the Falcons got rolling down the field and Joe Palmer scored fhe first of 4 touchdowns on a 10 yard run with 16 seconds left in the quarter and the extra point run failed and it was 6-0 and they did not look back from there.

Palmer scored again late in the 2nd quarter on a 4yard tun and he got the two pints to make it 14-0. The wingers capitalized on a kick return and a Falcon penalty and QB Marcus Walm connected with Tre Moore for a 15 yard play and it was 14-6 at half after their extra point run failed.

The Chappuis Jewelrs Gem play of the game was a pass from Falcon QB Mitch Nelson to Jack Grevious for about 65 yards and a short time later Palmer scored again to make it 20-6.

Then in the opening moments of the 4th Palmer scored from a yard out, Grevious got the extra point and it was 28-6. Red Wing tried to get another score but the Falcons held them off.

The State Farm Insurance Agents of Faribault players of the game were Joe Palmer and Cade McAdam. The Falcons host Mankato West at Bruce Smith Field Friday night. Coverage at 6:45pm on Power96. Red Wing takes on Winona.
