City Open Golf Tournament is Open to all Steele County Residents

The annual City Open golf tournament is the first weekend in August. The registration deadline is Wednesday, July 29. All abilities and ages are welcome. 

The tournament is open to all Steele County residents. Sign up by contacting the Brooktree Clubhouse at 444-2467. The Jim Birdsall junior tournament is Thursday and Friday, July 30-31, and costs $15. Adults play Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 1-2, for just $30. There are flights for all ability levels.

The tournament consists of 18 holes at Brooktree Golf Course and 18 holes at the Owatonna Country Club. Flights will be determined by handicap. Women are especially encouraged to sign up as numbers have been lower in recent years.

Brooktree has a busy August of events coming up. The VFW state tournament is Aug. 7-9, the club championship is Aug. 15-16, the BGA big cup event is Aug. 30 and the Elks tournament is Aug. 31.

The Owatonna Country Club holds its club championship weekend Aug. 22-23. A couples golf event is Aug. 28. The country club hosts the Labor Day Classic on Sept. 7. This is a two-person team tournament
