It was announced on Friday that Cash Wise Foods in Waseca would be closing by the end of February. The announcement from Cash Wise Foods' parent company Coborn Inc. comes less than two years from Cash Wise opening in Waseca, in the vacant Hy-Vee foods location on North State Street.

According to a report from KEYC-TV in Mankato, the store has about 30 to 40 fulltime employees who are being offered placement assistance for other roles within the company.

In a September 2018 press release from Coborn Inc, the plan was to hire as many as "100 people to staff this [Waseca] location."

The store closing was cited due to "difficulty meeting guest counts necessary to remain open."

The Cash Wise Foods store in Owatonna will not be affected by the closing and will remain open.
