Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Authorities have released the name of the Minnesota state trooper who was assaulted Thursday and the names of his suspected attackers.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says Trooper Doug Rauenhorst was transported to United Hospital in Albert Lea for treatment after the attack and was released Friday morning. He has been a trooper for 22 years.
He was assaulted after making a traffic stop on I-90 near Blue Earth. The suspects fled and made their way to Albert Lea where they reportedly threw packages of marijuana from the vehicle and then ditched the car. They were later apprehended in an Albert Lea bar.
The two have been identified as 28-year-old Anthony Hector Enriquez and 29-year-old Montrell Antonio Smith, both from Milwaukee.
The BCA says they were booked into the Faribault County Jail on probable cause felony assault and possession of a controlled substance. They are expected to be arraigned on Monday.
