Rochester, MN (KROC AM News - Another Rochester woman has been scammed out of several thousand dollars in a scheme that REALLY sounded legit.

And Rochester police are again urging citizens to be extra careful.

RPD Capt. Casey Moilanen says the 39-year-old woman reported the incident Monday night.

A phone call she received indicated it was from her bank. She also received a text message saying there had been fraudulent activity involving her account.

Moilanen says the woman called the number on the caller ID and a man answered. He told her about improper transfers that had been made and asked for her social security number. The woman gave the man the final four digits but he asked for all the numbers and she complied. A moment later, the call ended.

The woman then contacted her bank and learned she had just lost $6,000.

Moilanen cautions against giving any information to an unknown caller. He urges anyone who receives a similar call or text to call their bank to see if it’s legit.
