The Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Ambassadors helped another local business celebrate its 100th anniversary. The Ambassadors visited United Prairie Bank at 110 West Rose Street to honor the milestone. Just recently Kottke Jewelers and Costa's Candies and Restaurant were in the news for reaching 100 years in operation.

The July 30 edition of the Tuesday Talk e-newsletter from the Owatonna chamber states, "The original bank charter of Farmers State Bank of Mountain Lake, which is now known as United Prairie Bank, started in the year 1919. Josh Burgess is the president of the Owatonna branch and runs a full-service financial center with two locations in the community."

The Ambassadors also welcomed new chamber member West Bank at 345 Florence Avenue, Suite 101. The chamber is getting fired up for their annual golf outing which is Thursday, August 1 at the Owatonna Country Club. "The weather forecast looks great for the Around the World golf event," the newsletter proclaims.

August 1 is also the date for the final Downtown Thursday for the summer. Chamber members are looking forward to another great evening, "Promises to be an evening filled with great music, food, friends and fun exploring our makers, unique shops, pubs, eateries and food trucks."

Music on Thursday will start with The Foragers playing an Americana-music show in the green space downtown at 215 North Cedar at 5 pm. JRD and the Big Mistake will follow at 7 pm and feature classic country. Meanwhile the vintage sounds of the Arizona Territorial Band will be heard from the Central Park stage starting at 7 pm.

Business After Hours will be held on Friday, August 9 in the Beer Garden at the Steele County Fairgrounds in advance of the opening of the fair on Tuesday, August 13. Co-sponsors for the event are Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Advantage Real Estate, Block Plumbing and Heating, Cash Wise Foods and the fair, beginning at 5:30 pm.
