If you're looking for walleye specifically, these are definitely some of the best places to go this season.

My husband and I love to fish! We're excited to be getting our Minnesota fishing licenses soon! We decided to look up some good spots to fish right here in southeast Minnesota over the weekend, while we prepared. Here's what we found...

1. Chester Woods

Located in Olmsted County, a trip to this lake can easily be done within a day. Another great part about it is the handicapped accessible pier! Chester Woods explains, "Chester Lake has been stocked with largemouth bass, panfish, and channel catfish."

2. Lake Washington

Looking for walleye especially? This spot is just northeast of Mankato, and rated one of the best.

3. Lake Pepin

You can get to Lake City in just under an hour and a half from Owatonna. A totally easy trip that you can do within a day, and there's a variety of fish to catch on Lake Pepin! This lake is known to harbor largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, and sauger.

4. Elysian Lake

Located just in Waseca County, you can find Bigmouth Buffalo, Black Bullhead, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, White Sucker and Yellow Perch.

5. Silver Lake

Bonus: restrooms aren't far away! Silver Lake has a population of Bluegill, black crappie, yellow perch, and largemouth bass.

Good luck to all the fishermen and fisherwomen this season!
