A 1,000-point celebration was held Thursday night in a pair of nearby gymnasiums. The two players who reached that milestone will go head-to-head Friday night in Blooming Prairie. BP junior Megan Oswald reached 1,000 career points at home Thursday against Maple River. NRHEG sophomore Sophie Stork reached the mark in a game at Dodge Center.

Oswald needed 21 points entering play Thursday. She scored 22. Coincidentally, Blooming Prairie senior Gabe Hagen just reached 1,000 points recently as well on a night he needed 21 and scored 22.

The BP girls won 48-36 Thursday over the Eagles. Coach John Bruns said, "The game itself was a defensive battle with both teams really focusing on the defensive end. We were able to get the lead early and never trailed in the game. We did a good job getting a hand up on their shooters and making them take tough shots."

Bobbie Bruns added 17 points for the Blossoms (15-2 overall, 8-1 Gopher Conference). BP was 13-for-17 at the free throw line.

Stork scored 28 points in a 97-79 victory at Triton Thursday to reach the 1,000-point milestone. She also had 11 rebounds and five assists. Sidney Schultz led the Panthers in scoring with 29 points, plus had seven assists, six rebounds, and three steals. Sarah Johns added 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

Coach Onika Peterson said, "Great win tonight. The girls moved the ball well of offense, hit the open shooter, and drove to the basket well. We shot 24/26 from the free throw line and hit 15 3-pointers as a team. Defensively, still making some tweaks to what works for us but the girls stepped up tonight and got a great win."

In honor of their great accomplishments, Stork and Oswald are H & R Block Stat Sheet Stuffers. H & R Block Owatonna, Faribault, Lakeville. Upfront Transparent Pricing, The Way Tax Preparation Should Be.
