The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) recently released the most recent scores for math and reading tests for fourth and eighth-graders. Fabric took these scores (plus some other things, we'll get to that) to determine which states have the best public education in the country. Good news, Minnesota came in at number 7!

The way Fabric determined this list was by creating "a composite score based on NAEP math and NAEP reading results for fourth- and eighth-grade public school students" as well as "graduation rates and student-to-teacher ratios."

Let's see which states beat Minnesota! Here are the top 10 states for public education:

10. Nebraska

9. Wisconsin

8. Vermont

7. Minnesota

6. Virginia

5. Wyoming

4. Connecticut

3. New Hampshire

2. Massachusetts

1. New Jersey
