Pine Island, MN (KROC AM News) -  A Zumbrota man caught speeding way over the limit told the officer who stopped him that he was “very late for work.”

A state trooper clocked the man's car at 89 mph on Highway 52 near Pine Island last Saturday morning. The trooper went after the car as it headed south and found the driver had increased his speed to 98 mph. The speed limit on the highway is 65.

The trooper pulled the driver over and identified him as 20-year-old Juwaaun Guider. When asked why he was in such a hurry, Guider told the trooper “his alarm didn’t go off and he was very late for work. “

Guider was ticketed for speeding and violating his instruction permit.
