The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers defeated the Medford Tigers in the finals of the 16 team Cannon Falls Tournament Saturday.  The Buccaneers captured the title match 25-17, 25-21 to finish 5-0 in the competition.  They did not lose a set in the tournament.

WEM opened the tournament with a 25-13, 25-9 win over Hastings.  They then recorded a 25-13, 25-13 victory over Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran before defeating Tartan 25-15, 25-21.  Then came the title match with Medford.

It was the third time this season the Buccaneers have defeated Medford.  The two teams could square off in the State Tournament in November.  The Tigers are in Section 1 and WEM in Section 2.

Medford had victories over Triton 2-0, Red Wing 2-0, Cannon Falls 2-0 and Farmington 2-0 before falling to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown.

The Buccaneers did report some statistics for their team in the tournament.  They had a team hitting percentage of .243 with 34 total blocks in the five matches.  34 ace serves were recorded led by Delaney Donahue with 11.  Ellie Ready had 7, Toryn Richards 6, Allison Rients 5.

Toryn Richards recorded 42 kills while hitting .276.  Delaney Donahue had 33 kills and smacked a blistering .351.  Trista Hering amassed 19 kills while hitting .276, Kylie Pittman added 17 kills and a .117 hitting percentage.

Hering finished with 14 of the team's 34 blocks.  Richards led the team with 38 digs.  Kylie Pittman had 37 digs, Delaney Donahue 28 digs, Ellie Ready 23 digs.
