The Goodhue Wildcats scored all the points they needed in the first quarter but had to hold on for a 14-12 win over Faribault Bethlehem Academy Friday night.  The game was played in Goodhue.

The Wildcats scored with 8:43 to go in the first quarter on a 25 yard pass from Sam Opsahl to Kyle Schoenfelder.  They scored again with 2:05 to go in the first quarter on a 10 yard hookup between the two again.  Kicker Kasen Bigalk booted both extra points which proved to be the difference in the game.

Bethlehem Academy scored with 6:47 to go in the first quarter on a 63 yard pass by Jack Jandro to Lucas Linneman.  The Cardinals missed the conversion on a pass attempt.

With 1 second left in the third period Bethlehem Academy got a Jandro to Josh Oathoudt connection for a 31 yard touchdown.  The Cardinals tried another pass for two points that was unsuccessful.

BA statistics had the Cardinals with 260 total yards and Goodhue 240 total yards in the game.  Bethlehem Academy had 130 yards rushing and 130 yards passing.

The Wildcats collected 97 yards on the ground and 143 through the air.

Goodhue survived 3 lost fumbles and a interception.  The Cardinals lost two fumbles in the chilly game.

Opsahl was 6 of 11 for 97 yards and two scores.   Jandro 7 of 14 for 117 yards and two scores.  Oathoudt 1 of 2 for 13 yards.  Brady Strodtman led BA in the ground game with 57 yards on 13 carries.

The Wildcats Logan Ferguson ended the night with 102 yards on the ground on 26 carries. Schoenfelder caught 4 balls for 70 yards.

Riley Kangas led the Cardinals with 7 tackles (5 solo) and had an interception.

Bethlehem Academy will host Blooming Prairie next Friday for their homecoming game.

Goodhue travels to Randolph for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.  The Wildcats are 4-2 this season.

The Cardinals fell to 2-4.
